I have been capturing footage of wolves for 3 years. These animals kept in captivity for their protection. It began as a means to see how they interact with one another. As I started compiling footage, I noticed that themselves have tendencies that humans share. There is a forum of viewers/admirers of these wolves; one that is filled with sheer positivity and joy. Each sharing screen caps and comments that are directed towards the wolves, cheering them on as they exist.

On September 22nd I was heartbroken when I discovered that one of the most prominent wolves in the conservation center has passed away in his sleep, Atka. The community was grieving by posting photos of him with sweet memoirs. “too near the bone” is my eulogy. It also depicts the narrative of my ill mother and I’s relationship. One filled with quiet talks and rest.
